500hp or bust - part 1
Now after 2 yrs of ownership, the Corvette, while still entertaining, lack the horsepower that the looks suggests. My daily driver a 2016 Chevrolet SS has over 400 hp and the power is delightful.
Planned Upgrades
- Increased displacement , Stroker engine, from 350 cubic inches to 383 cubic inches,
- Stronger engine block to handle horsepower
- Dual Electric Fans
- Aggressive exhaust noise. (gotta have the drama to go with the looks
What the heck is a Stroker?
Basically, we are creating a larger engine by change the rotating assembly, crankshafts, rods and pistons to be able to take in more air and fuel and thus more power.
There is a lot of articles on the web on the formulas and details but this is a good summary from
A stroker engine is basically just an engine that has had the stroke increased to more than was originally from the factory.
Increase the stroke of the engine (and also the bore, too) you increase the size of the engine. We are changing the "breathing capacity" of the engine.

115-SP460 ELECTRIC FAN KIT $449.99 1 $449.99
Serpentine Belt kit from MarchPerformance $606.00. This is a modern replacement to the old style fan belts that wear out quickly and sometimes fly apart.
Stay tuned as this story continues. Sending the block off to CD Performance engines in Kirkland. They are going bore the engine .030 and measure the engine exactly. We will decide after CD does the work before we order the crank, pistons, camshaft and cylinder heads. cheers. walter
